Frequently asked questions
Remodeling questions, answered straight.
Costs, timelines, materials, booking — the things homeowners ask before a remodel, answered the way I’d answer them on the phone. Anything else, call or text me on 719-521-8312.
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Colorado Springs?
It depends on size, materials and what’s hiding behind the walls, which is why every quote is itemized rather than plucked from a price list. As a current guide, the November Holiday Special prices a shower remodel at $2,000 and a tub-surround tile replacement at $1,000. Call or text 719-521-8312 with a few details and you’ll get a straight, itemized price — free, and no obligation.
What is a concrete shower pan, and why do you recommend one?
A concrete (mud-bed) shower pan is built up in place — sloped by hand to the drain, waterproofed, then tiled — instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all plastic tray. Done properly it never flexes or creaks, follows any floor shape or drain position, and outlasts the bathroom around it. Concrete shower pans are The British Remodeler’s headline specialty, and they’re included in the current November Holiday Special.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Once materials are on site, a typical bathroom remodel runs one to three weeks of on-site work depending on scope — a tub-surround replacement is a matter of days, while a full rebuild with a hand-built concrete pan takes longer. You’ll get a realistic schedule before work starts, and the same person sees it through from the first day to the final walkthrough.
When can you start? Are you taking bookings now?
Yes. November has room for handyman work and smaller tile jobs, and larger bathroom remodels are booking into December. The calendar moves quickly, so call or text 719-521-8312 to hold a slot.
What areas do you serve?
Colorado Springs plus Monument, Castle Rock, Falcon, Peyton, Woodland Park and Fountain, and Elizabeth and Kiowa out in Elbert County — El Paso, Douglas and Elbert counties generally. Just outside that ring? Ask anyway; for the right job I’ll travel a little further.
Do you supply the materials, or do I?
Either way works. Many clients choose and supply their own tile and fixtures, and I’ll give you an exact list so nothing is missed; I always supply the setting materials and waterproofing behind the tile. If you’d rather not shop, I can source everything — agreed up front and itemized in the quote either way.
What waterproofing do you use in showers?
Schluter systems, installed to TCNA standards — I’m Schluter-certified for waterproofing, with 26 years in the tile trade. A shower should be a waterproof box before a single tile goes on. It’s the part nobody sees, and it’s the part that decides whether a shower lasts five years or thirty.
Do you take small jobs and handyman work, or only full remodels?
Both. Drywall repairs, caulking, fixture swaps, punch lists and odd jobs are the bread and butter between remodels — November has space for exactly that kind of work. Small job, same standard: done properly or not at all.
Can you repair or regrout existing tile, or does it all have to come out?
Often it can be saved. Regrouts, broken-tile replacement, failed silicone and leaking shower corners are everyday repairs here. If the tile is sound and the problem is only at the surface, I’ll tell you. If it has failed behind the tile, I’ll tell you that too — and show you why.
How do free estimates work?
Simple: call or text 719-521-8312 and describe the job — photos help. You deal with me, Simon, from estimate to final walkthrough: no sales reps, no pressure, no vague allowances. You get a clear, itemized scope and a straight price before anything is booked.
Do you also make mosaic art?
Mosaics live at my sister business, Lion & Crown Mosaics (theglasslion.com) — mosaic art, murals and commissions only. The British Remodeler is purely remodeling. The two keep separate hats on purpose, though the same hands wear both.
Still deciding? Talk it through.
Estimates are free and there’s no sales pitch attached. November has room for handyman work and smaller tile jobs; larger bathroom remodels are booking into December.
